I’m holding out hope that spring is right around the corner. We had some beautiful warm, spring-like days here recently, and then had another cold snap (with SO much snow! ugh)…but I’m holding out hope that those warm days are not far away (for good this time). I don’t know about you guys, but I can’t wait to get out of my winter jacket and boots. Hello light coats, flats, cropped pants, and sandals!! It’s been toooo long.
I usually like to go out around this time of year and buy a few new pieces. It’s always nice to start off the spring/summer with a couple of lovely new things that make me feel great. This year though, with Baby Sprout on the way, things are a little different – I’m learning to dress this ever-growing belly of mine with a several new pieces and a lot of hand-me-down stuff. I feel a post on how to build a maternity wardrobe coming on!
In the meantime, let’s get back to spring wardrobes.
Much like when designing a room, I’m all about the high and low. I think the best look comes from mixing and matching pieces. One of my go-to outfits is a higher-end button blouse that I adore from Anthropologie (and was way more than I’d usually spend), some skinny jeans from Old Navy, my boots from Aldo, plus a scarf and jewellery from H&M. It’s an outfit I feel fab in, but it didn’t have to all be from a fancy store. Most of my “low” stuff I buy on sale, or even quite often from consignment shops, where I always get a great deal. So from time to time, I’ll let myself buy something that is truly fabulous, and then having those few ultra lovely pieces in my wardrobe takes everything up a notch somehow.
I was recently contacted by Scoop NYC and fell in love with their merchandise. They are a New York City boutique with shops in SoHo, the upper east side, the meatpacking district, and beyond — and have everything for sale online as well. They have an edited selection of the season’s best fashion items, and carry some lovely designer clothes – think missoni, diane von furstenberg, rag and bone, alice + olivia, etc. High end, beautiful stuff.
Here are a few of my faves from their new arrivals section…
So if you’re looking for that splurge purchase for spring, you should really go check out their site. They also have a huuuge clearance section online, where everything has been marked down, and is then an extra 50% off. Check out those metallic shorts in the bottom right… they would look amazing with a white tee-shirt, some bling-y sandals, and big earrings.
Anyway, go have a browse around – there is some lovely eye candy! The other place I often go for fashion inspiration is Pinterest - tons of great moodboards like the two above. Have fun!
