It’s been a little while since the last belly post, so I figured it was time for a bit of an update. Both baby and I are doing well! I’m now 35 (and a half!) weeks. Feels crazy that I’m just about full term. Sometimes the time felt like it was dragging on, and other times, just flying by! I’m trying to do my best to soak it all up – I know the baby will arrive in no time.
Baby is healthy, and I’m feeling pretty super, all things considered. I have started working mostly from home, which has made a huge difference to how I feel. My lower back pain has pretty much disappeared – I was getting really excruciating pain in my tailbone area after hours of sitting in an office chair. Now I can move around from couch, to exercise ball, to dining room chair, and to the coffee shop with laptop in tow to do work. It’s amazing. Way more walking, which means me feeling much more limber. Despite a few bad nights here and there, I’m still sleeping pretty well (which I feel super lucky about). Yes – there are more trips to the bathroom in the night than I would like – but I’m not waking up with pain or much stiffness. I’m trying to get as much sleep now as I can, as I know it’ll be hard to come by once babe gets here!
The belly is definitely a-growing! Most days I feel really great and not all that large, and then I get a glimpse in the mirror and think “holy smokes, that is one big tum!”. And other days? Well, I do feel that big tum-tum and am pretttty slow-moving. I have been doing prenatal yoga twice a week, and prenatal aquafit once a week all the way through the pregnancy, which I think has helped me stay feeling pretty mobile. Plus, all that stretching and floating in the pool with other preggo gals is a nice excuse to chat about all things pregnancy (when your partner and family/friends are probably getting kinda tired of talking about it!).
Daddy Dan is doing well! He has been reading books about labour and delivery (we also took some awesome prenatal classes), and being super supportive all around. I think he’s getting really excited – lots of belly patting and talking to the baby these days.
We had planned to do a maternity photoshoot with some professional photographers, but they had to cancel at the last minute due to a family emergency, so we ended up just taking some photos at Dan’s parents’ farm. We had his Mum snap the pics, and you know what? I love the way they turned out! I’m thinking that we’ll save the money from the maternity shoot, and put it towards a family photoshoot later down the road. Here are my faves.
We grabbed 6 pink helium filled balloons for $10 from a local party store to use as a prop. Pretty fun, right?
We also brought over some little rainboots that I had picked up at the thrift store for baby sprout. I know she’s not going to wear them for several years, but come on, how cute are they?! I just couldn’t help myself.
So there is the update! We’re in the final stretch now – due on August 6th. I know life will be turned upside down in all kinds of ways, so I’m trying to get all sorts of things wrapped up and ready for her big arrival. Wish me luck!
Also – a big congrats to Erika, who won our Baba Souk giveaway!! Have fun choosing your prize Erika… I’m seriously jealous! Don’t forget to head on over to Baba Souk to check out their gorgeeeeeous stuff.
Happy weekend, you guys! You up to anything fun? I’ve got a few fun things going on (dinner date with some girlfriends, a mani/pedi booked – yay!) and some things that need to get checked off the to-do list.
