Since moving back to our pad in June, my jewellery storage (and specifically my necklaces) was pretty lack luster. Case in point:
Yep, my necklaces were hanging from some random nails on the walls. It was looking uuuugly. So when I spotted a few DIY cork boards up on the blogosphere — like this one by Aubrey and Lindsay and this one by Jen@RamblingRenovators — I was inspired and kicked my butt into gear.
I grabbed a cork board I had in the garage (I had originally picked it up at a thrift store for a buck) and got started.
I found a beautiful white and grey striped fabric at my local fabric shop — it was less than $10/yard and there was an additional members’ sale at the time. Sa-weeet. I cut some to size, making sure I would have enough to wrap around to the back of the board.
Then I got all my supplies together and got to work. I used my spray adhesive to spray the board a bit before I wrapped my fabric around, just to make sure it really stayed in place.
Then it was just a little staple here, a little staple there, and voila. Easy-peasy lemon squeezy.
I threw on some nailhead trim around the border to keep the fabric secure and to add some detail (again, purchased at my local fabric store). Then I just added a few push pins to actually hang the necklaces from.
Muuuuuch better, right?!
I still want to do something with my earrings and bracelets, but this is definitely way improved for now!
What about you guys? Any fun jewellery storage projects at your place? I’ve seen some really cute setups from teacups as earring holders to using vintage hooks for necklaces. Do tell.
