Decorating your door with a eucalyptus wreath is a great way to add some natural style to your home. Whether you’re hoping to dress up your house during the spring months or for the holidays, eucalyptus is a great choice! And the best part about this type of wreath is that it’s so simple to make at home. You only need two craft supplies and a few minutes of your time to create your own beautiful DIY eucalyptus wreath.
DIY Eucalyptus Wreath Supplies:
This handmade wreath is so easy to make because you only need two craft supplies to put it together. To make your own wreath at home today you’ll need:
- Foam wreath form. A green foam wreath form will serve as the base for your wreath. Use the size of the wreath form to help you decide how big your wreath will be. A smaller wreath form will take less time to make, but a larger wreath from will create a bigger impact in your home!
- Faux eucalyptus branches. The number of branches you’ll need to make your wreath will depend on the size of your wreath form. For my 10-inch wreath, I used around 15 small eucalyptus picks.
While you can put your wreath together with just these two craft supplies, it’s also a good idea to have a hot glue gun and wire cutters on hand. The glue gun will help ensure your branches stay in place and the wire cutters will make it much easier to trim your eucalyptus branches.
{Tutorial} How to Make a Eucalyptus Wreath:
After gathering your supplies, you’ll need to start by preparing your branches to be added to the wreath form. That means cutting off each individual branch from the pick to create several smaller branches. After trimming the branches from my stems, each branch was two to three inches long. Wire cutters are the best option for trimming branches because they’ll easily cut through the thin wire in each branch. A sharp pair of scissors will also do the job, but it will be much harder to cut through each branch.
Once all your branches have been trimmed, you can start putting your wreath together. Simply push the wire in the end of each branch into the floral foam. As you add the branches to the wreath form, make sure to layer each branch on top of the one below it to fully cover the wreath form. As you add your branches to the wreath form, you can place a small drop of hot glue on the end of each branch to ensure it stays in place.
Continue adding branches to the wreath until the entire form is covered. After that, examine the wreath to see if there are any bare spots where the foam wreath form is exposed. Stick additional branches in those spots. Or manipulate the existing branches to cover the bare spot. Using your hot glue gun to reposition the branches is a simple way to keep those branches in place after they’ve been moved.
